Eagles into Trophy Semis

Newcastle Eagles became the first team to book their spot in the BBL Trophy semi-finals, while four of the top five in the BBL Championship all picked up victories on Sunday.

The Eagles saw off Cheshire Phoenix for the fifth time this season with a 97-87 victory, despite 34 points from Akeem Ellis.

Newcastle were led by Rahmon Fletcher's 18 points with Joe Chapman and Charles Smith adding 16 apiece.

Leicester Riders defeated Plymouth University Raiders 90-80 behind 27 points from Neil Watson and a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double from TrayVonn Wright.



Meanwhile, Sheffield Sharks netted 14 triples in a 93-70 win away at Manchester Giants to take their winning streak to eight games.

Kyle Odister had a season-high 22 points, while Jerrold Brooks finished with 19 points and eight assists.

Glasgow Rocks recorded a comfortable 87-58 win at home to Bristol Flyers with Marcus Ware scoring 24 points, while Worcester Wolves needed overtime to defeat Surrey Scorchers 96-88 on the road as Perris Blackwell led the way with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
