Basketball Newcastle Eagles became the first team to book their spot in the BBL Trophy semi-finals, while four of the top five in the BBL Championship all picked up victories on Sunday. The Eagles saw off Cheshire Phoenix for the fifth time this season with a 97-87 victory, despite 34 points from Akeem Ellis. Newcastle were led by Rahmon Fletcher's 18 points with Joe Chapman and Charles Smith adding 16 apiece. Leicester Riders defeated Plymouth University Raiders 90-80 behind 27 points from Neil Watson and a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double from TrayVonn Wright.
